We are Carbon Neutral!

Well, this is a milestone in our Sustainability journey that we are really proud of!

We care about our planet and our future. After leaving our corporate jobs and starting our small business we always knew we wanted sustainability to be a focus. After all it's our business and we're accountable for what we do. So we decided to be as sustainable as possible and be kind to our planet.

We’ve partnered with the legends at Pangolin Associates who’ve helped us measure our FY2021 carbon footprint. Carbon neutrality is a combination of measuring, reducing, and offsetting emissions.

We are reducing our carbon footprint by:

  • Switching to Greenpower
  • Limit air travel (zoom meetings etc)
  • Switch to carbon neutral suppliers (Paper, phone etc)
  • Use rail or sea for freight where possible
  •

Our carbon credits offset manufacturing, processing materials and freight which we are committed to offsetting now and in future years to come.

Our Carbon neutral consultants helped us find verified carbon credit projects to offset that footprint.

We’ve chosen an amazing project to partner with this year:

    MYTRAH ENERGY WIND POWER PROJECT

This project is responsible for a multi-site wind power project in
India. The project has 156 wind generators with a total installed capacity
of 233 MW. It is a Verra Standard source of VCS carbon credits on the
    carbon market.
The energy generated from this project supplies the region and feeds into
    the Southern Grid. Importantly, it is an example of effective climate action;
the project’s clean electricity displaces an equivalent amount of energy
generated from fossil fuel-based thermal power stations – polluting fuels
from coal, diesel, furnace oil and gas. By contrast, this project reduces
greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 479,448 CO2e per annum.

    SO, WHY GO CARBON NEUTRAL?

Because we can make a difference to our planet. We acknowledge that as individuals and as a business, we contribute to climate change ourselves. We also know that there are things we can do about it — like choosing to go carbon neutral!

    WHAT’S A CARBON FOOTPRINT?

A carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by an individual, event, organisation, service or product, expressed as a carbon dioxide equivalent.

    WHAT IS CARBON NEUTRAL?

Carbon neutrality is a combination of measuring, reducing, and offsetting emissions.

SO, WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT?

Going carbon neutral does not mean our footprint is reduced. We are thinking of this as two sides to the coin - on the one side we need to offset our current emissions, on the other side, we need to continue to take actions to reduce our footprint.

    WHAT ARE OFFSETS?

Carbon offsets, also known as carbon credits, are used by leading organisations to help reduce the impact of their carbon footprint. Each offset represents one metric tonne of greenhouse gas emissions (t-CO2e). When you purchase a carbon offset from a third party, you are essentially paying someone else to offset, or reduce, one tonne of carbon emissions from the atmosphere in another location, on your behalf. Effectively you are paying someone else to do what you can't.

WHO WERE YOUR CARBON NEUTRAL ADVISORS?

We worked with Pangolin Associates who were amazing to work with. They offered us support in reducing our emissions as well as offsetting.

Thank you for supporting our sustainability journey as a brand so far. As consumers, it’s important we all keep making conscious decisions about how we shop.
