An Art Gallery Wedding

Jacob and Sophie's Art Gallery Wedding made for a fun and colourful celebartion. We caught up with the couple to hear all about how they incorporated Australian Native flowers and individual groomsmen style.

Any special comments on the Groom & Groomsmen attire?

I (The Groom) wore a Calvin Klein cream check jacket with blue pants and the Flowering Gum Peggy and Finn Tie, Pocket Square and Socks. I do regret not getting the matching undies for the day! We inverted the groomsmen a little bit and they wore navy jackets and tan pants. For us it was about keeping it a bit individual and relaxed so they all wore their own combinations, we took the beautiful pink colour out of the flowering gum tie which we chose first and handmade ties and pocket squares for the groomsmen.

Tell us what was unique about your day?

Getting to hold it in the beautiful gallery was ideal, it allowed us to have a more relaxed approach to the day and make it a bit more informal. This meant that we could invite more people than we could if we picked a more traditional venue. Being surrounded by 175 of our closest family and friends was a dream. Sophie and I did almost everything ourselves, being designers meant that we could really put our own touch on it all, so it really felt like our day. We did all our traditional photos before the ceremony so we could move quite quickly from ceremony to the party.

What was your favorite moment on your wedding day?

One of our best friends Lisette, wrote and performed a majority of the ceremony for us, lovingly assisted by our wonderful legal celebrant Suzannah. Lisette's ceremony was perfect, she knew us so well that it was just one of the most special moments we will ever experience. Once this was over, getting to dance into the middle of the night was so much fun as well.

Words of wisdom, What advice would you give to other couples who are planning their wedding day?

Make sure you make it about you, rather than what people expect from you. On the day, make sure you enjoy it and have a whole lot of fun.
